Australian Royalty at Hornsby

The theme of our General Meeting last Wednesday was Convicts. Eight members shared stories of their convict ancestors – it’s amazing that we are all such upright citizens when we reflect on the deeds of some of our ancestors.

A show of hands indicated that most of those present were Australian Royalty (ie descendants of convicts). We gathered the least shy of that regal group for a photo.

Geneareaders’ Circle

At our last meeting 24 members shared details of books that have educated, enriched, informed or inspired their family  history experience. It was a successful activity in that we got to hear from some of our quieter members, hear of some old and new resources and be reminded of the range of print resources we can use to hunt down our ancestors.

You can see a list of resources discussed here: 20160316Genealogy Readers Circle Web  Thanks to Karen from Hornsby Library for adding details of where the books can be found.

A New Page on our Site

It appears that some of our members have family history websites or blogs. Here are just two examples:

Karen has a family website, The Richardson/Macdonald Family at http://karenrichardson.tribalpages.com/

Sharn has a blog, Family History 4U, at  http://sharnsgenealogyhints.blogspot.com.au where she posts ancestors stories and genealogy news..

Today we are adding a new page, Hornsby Genies Online, to our website that links to these and other blogs and websites of our members. As we wish to showcase the work of our members and promote genealogy in Hornsby we would love to share links to your site or blog.

Please let Jill Ball jillballau@gmail.com know of any links that are missing from our new page.
