Wondering who this Pemberton chap was I searched for a death notice and found one that gave me some several clues.

Learning that his father’s name was also Matthew I looked for his death registration and found it here:

Further searching turned up a report of the accident and the Coroner’s findngs.

It was sad to read in a further article that Matthew left a widow and six young children.

It was pleasing to read in July that the local community had raised a  substantial sum of money for Brooklyn residents, Mrs Pemberton and family.
