Trove Tuesday – Community comes to the rescue

The following article describes how the community in Berowra rallied to help two pensioners who had lost their house in a fire.

Having read the story I wondered who the Orams were. My search for “Oram” Berowra returned an obituary from the next year 1953. It was pleasing, that by the time of his death, the Oram family was settled in their new home.

Alfred’s death notice in the Sydney Morning Herald gives us further information including a place of death and his wife’s full name.
